Sexual assault is any unwanted attempt to establish a sexual act, even unwanted sexual comments or suggestions. Because rape touches the most intimate spheres of life, it is completely different from other forms of abuse.
Rape victims can be any age, race, gender, and sexual orientation.
The first and most important steps a victim of a sexual assault can take to regain strength and peace are :
1) Talk about what happened. You decide who will listen to you;
2) You survived the attack and are not guilty in any way of what happened;
3) Always keep in mind that you are not alone.
4) Use your voice in blogs and speaking engagements to share your story.
5) Find mindfulness activity (yoga, meditation, core, or any physical activity which helps your body heal from outside out).
The fact is that sexual assault can happen to anyone, and the environment can greatly facilitate the recovery of victims.
The world can seem open to survivors, yet we still have a long way to GO!
