The thread that binds every survivor of sexual assault is their strength. It takes a lot of strength to learn to live, to love, and to cope with the results and the side effects of sexual assault. No matter if you want to bring that experience forward or if you don’t: you are still incredibly strong.
For those survivors that can turn this horrible experience into a story to be told, to help others, and to make it into an experience that can help other survivors relate to you we want to tell you: you are not only survivors, but also mentors, and healers. Through the telling of your own stories, you help other people understand and cope with their own, helping them heal in the process.
Not only that, but openly discussing your experiences helps normalize talking about them, helping other survivors feel better about telling their own stories, too.
